A report in the Italian press explains why Inter Milan are hellbent on signing Talleres youngster Tomas Palacios before the end of the summer.

Nevertheless, the club’s owners Oaktree Capital would only give the green light for the purchase of a young profile who suits their project.

The US-based group is seeking young players with market values that can increase over time.

So over the past few days, Inter have been heavily linked with Palacios. Many reports have identified the youngster as the Nerazzurri’s main transfer target.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the 21-year-old impressed the Italian champions with his wide array of skills.

Palacios is an imposing defender with a strong physique, but also boasts impressive technique.

The source also describes him as a highly intelligent player with impressive tactical maturity.

The young defender primarily plays on the left side of a three-man backline. Hence, he would be the right profile to fill in for Alessandro Bastoni in Inzaghi’s tactical scheme.

Nevertheless, Inter could cut his loan stint short and secure a deal to bring him to Europe this summer.

The youngster has thus far made 16 appearances across all competitions this season.
