Barcelona summer signing Dani Olmo has on Monday been lavished in praise.
This comes amid the claim that the 26-year-old’s addition was the standout move which Barca have made on the transfer front ‘for decades’.
Midfielder Olmo for his part of course secured his long-awaited Camp Nou return back in August.
Following a lengthy saga spanning much of the summer, Deco and co. finally agreed to meet the considerable financial demands laid out by RB Leipzig to finalise a deal.
And, if the early evidence is anything to go by, then as much looks set to prove a shrewd long-term investment.
A spell on the sidelines through injury aside, Olmo has slotted into Barcelona’s XI in seamless fashion, notching five goals across seven La Liga appearances to date.
And, as alluded to above, such endeavours have, on Monday, earned the Spanish international some fresh praise.
Speaking on ‘El tercer tiempo’ of Movistar (as cited by Diario Sport) today, former Real Madrid and Valencia head coach Jorge Valdano revealed his take that, when all is said and done, Olmo will prove himself Barcelona’s ‘best signing in decades’:
“Lamine’s absence causes a series of consequences. For example, moving Dani Olmo on the wing because he can play anywhere. However, when he plays as a midfielder, he gives an extraordinary fluidity to the game and the team. I think it’s the best signing Barça has made in decades.”
