We might as well get straight to this.
Sunderland, yes, Sunderland, have today officially confirmed the opening of a supporters club in North Korea – actual North Korea.
A tweet from the @VisitDPRK account revealed the surprising news on Sunday which then linked to an article on the Black Cats official website.
Tom Fowdy, a Sunderland fan who now lives in Pyongyang, is the first official member and is hoping to make Jack Ross’ side the biggest club in the Democratic People’s Republic.
A place cut off from the rest of the world, ruled over by a despotic regime, where life is a constant joyless struggle.
It’s almost like the Stadium of Light and North Korea are made for each other.
