Luis Palma has been left out of Honduras squad for their forthcoming games against French Guiana and Jamaica. The Celtic winger has been a peripheral figure under Brendan Rodgers this season and has made just four appearances this season, being on the pitch for just 106 minutes.

In a surprising move, the Honduran manager has reportedly decided to omit Palma to allow him to rediscover his form and force his way into the Celtic team.

It looks as if Palma is struggling at Celtic and Brendan is less than sold on the 24-year-old, handing him only one start this season. Palma failed to capitalise on a rare outing, in the League Cup against Falkirk, meaning questions have been asked regarding his future.

Palma arrived from Celtic from Aris in a deal worth €4m. Palma was given the daunting task of replacing Portuguese superstar Jota, who had left for Saudi Arabia. The attacker joined on a five-year deal, making his debut against Dundee.

In 36 appearances last season, Palma scored 10 goals and assisted on 11 occasions. It appeared that the player’s lack of pace would inhibit him from progressing under Brendan. The emergence of Nicolas Kühn this season has pushed Palma further down the pecking order. It will be interesting to see what happens with the winger as both James Forrest and Yang are vying to support the wide attackers.
