Former BVB chief scout and now technical director Sven Mislintat was sacked from his position this morning in a club announcement on social media. According to the club's statement, Mislintat was personally informed by CEO Lars Ricken of his decision this Thursday.

After returning to his "club of heart" in the summer, Mislintat's second tenure at Borussia Dortmund was marked by friction with sporting director Sebastian Kehl. As there were rumors of tensions between the two main squad planning figures at BVB, Ricken made strong demands to both directors as the CEO could make eventual personnel consequences to reestablish balance in Dortmund's environment.

Sven Mislintat was key in building the Bundesliga and Pokal squads in the early 2010s. Still, his recent troubling history in other clubs was always an alarming factor when he was announced as technical director for the 2024/2025 season. Despite being called the "Diamond Eye" for his eye for scouting talent, relationship and squad planning issues in clubs like Arsenal and Ajax marked his career negatively, which is likely why his comeback to BVB ended prematurely.
