Midfielder Ethan Erhahon is seemingly a target for Alan Sheehan, which could mean the Lewis O'Brien chase is over

Swansea City have failed in an initial transfer offer for Lincoln City midfielder Ethan Erhahon.

The Swans have wasted no time in splashing the cash this summer after appointing Alan Sheehan as permanent head coach, with a deal struck for Hacken winger Zeidane Inoussa recently that could reach a fee of £5.1 million.

He will arrive along with Aalborg midfielder Melker Widell this summer, with the club's American owners clearly giving their new manager real backing, along with the recent investment of Luka Modric bringing more eyes onto what's going on at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Swansea City have bid rejected for Lincoln City midfielder Ethan Erhahon

If they really want Erhahon though, it appears that they are going to have to bid a lot more than their opening offer.

According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, the Welsh outfit have submitted a £600,000 bid for the 24-year-old Scotsman, but that has been promptly rejected by the League One outfit.

Lincoln director of football Jez George claimed last May that the Imps will expect a club-record fee for Erhahon when he departs, which would have to eclipse the £640,000 earned from Harry Toffolo's move to Huddersfield Town and the subsequent sell-on when he signed for Nottingham Forest.

It appears though that Erhahon will command at least a seven-figure fee after his impressive performances for Lincoln, which have been pretty consistent since moving from St Mirren in 2023 for around £300,000.

Erhahon has appeared 107 times for City in all competitions since his move two-and-a-half years ago, but his contract status is unclear at Sincil Bank, having penned a 'long-term' undisclosed length deal in January 2023.

Swansea City's Ethan Erhahon chase may indicate moving away from Lewis O'Brien pursuit

A left-footed midfielder, Erhahon could bring balance to Swansea's engine room if they up their offer and are successful with it, given Goncalo Franco and Widell are both stronger with their right.

He could also be seen as a replacement for Lewis O'Brien, who had a very successful loan stint for the final few months of 2024-25 with Swansea.

However, O'Brien's ex-Huddersfield Town boss Carlos Corberan is reportedly keen to re-unite with the 26-year-old at Valencia this summer, and they would likely offer not only Nottingham Forest a better package, but the midfielder would get the offer of top flight football in one of the world's best leagues.
