Swansea City have made a bid for Wycombe Wanderers defender Joe Low.
Swansea City have reportedly made a bid for Wycombe Wanderers defender Joe Low.
That is according to Football Insider's transfer guru, Pete O'Rourke, who has linked the former Walsall man with a move to the South Coast of Wales.
Low has been part of a Wycombe side that has stunned League One this season, with the Chairboys accumulating 47 points from their opening 22 games.
This sees them sitting third in the table, behind Wrexham and Birmingham City, who took advantage of Matt Bloomfield's side's defeat to Charlton Athletic on Sunday.
However, they still have a game in hand on the Red Dragons and will be hopeful that if they can retain Low among other individuals, then their push for promotion to the Championship can continue in 2025.
While it has been Wycombe's attack that has caught the eye, they have still been very solid at the back and, alongside Caleb Taylor, Low has had a superb 2024-25.
That has caught the attention of Championship clubs and O'Rourke has reported that Swansea City have made an offer for the Wycombe defender.
The Swans have enjoyed reasonable success in defence this season, conceding just 25 goals in 24 games. However, their expected goals conceded ranks much higher at 32.4, suggesting that a defensive reinforcement would not go amiss.
Currently, they rely on the duo of Harry Darling and Ben Cabango, both of whom could benefit from the added competition and depth that Low would bring.
A naturally gifted defender, the 22-year-old would suit Luke Williams' system well, and his added influence in the opposition's penalty area could see them become more of a threat from set pieces.
The tall defender joined Wycombe in the summer of 2023 following his departure from Bristol City and has been a mainstay in Bloomfield's side.
While the start of last season was difficult, since we turned our calendars over to 2024, the defender's form has matched that of his parent clubs.
This campaign he has played every single league minute for Chairboys, scoring crucial goals in victories against Bristol Rovers, Wigan Athletic, and Lincoln City.
Heading into the winter window, Bloomfield will be eager to shift focus away from his star defender, with the retention of Low potentially vital to Wycombe's promotion ambitions.
This isn't the head coach's only concern either, with the likes of Richard Kone and Aaron Morley potentially departing the club before the window slams shut next month.
