The Scottish Women’s Premier League has confirmed that SWPL matches will be broadcast on the BBC Scotland channel for the first time ever.
The Friday night fixtures will kick off on 24 January when Celtic host Hearts, closely followed by another huge match between Glasgow City and Celtic on the 14 February.
Hearts are currently in third place in the League, just three points ahead of Celtic who have two matches in hand following their UEFA Women’s Champions League exploits this Season.
Glasgow City start 2025 in familiar territory as league leaders and will be looking to increase the gap between themselves and their closest rivals.
All three clubs are very much in the battle for the title and UEFA Women’s Champions League places.
Fiona McIntyre, SWPL Managing Director, said: “We are thrilled to bring the first ever ScottishPower Women’s Premier League matches to the BBC Scotland channel as we enter into the second half of what has already been a compelling Season. This provides another fantastic opportunity to showcase the best of the league to existing and new audiences within a broadcast slot which has become well established within Scottish football in recent years.”
Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning, BBC Scotland, said: “We’re delighted we’ll be broadcasting live these SWPL games on BBC Scotland, adding to our current regular coverage of the league across platforms, including our weekly highlights programme which is also on the channel. The matches are great additions to our Friday night football slot on the channel which has become a firm favourite with audiences.”
