Taty Castellanos Comeback Plans Revealed Ahead of Atalanta & Roma Clashes

Lazio have reportedly devised a plan to reintroduce Taty Castellanos back to the mix without risking another setback.
The Argentinian bomber has cemented himself as the club’s ultimate striker following Ciro Immobile’s emotional departure last summer. He has already bagged 12 goals and provided his teammates with eight assists in all competitions. Therefore, his absence in recent months has proven to be a major headache for Marco Baroni.
Castellanos suffered a calf injury during the team’s contest against Napoli on February 15th. He then made his return to action a month later in the second-leg against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League Round of 16, before being ruled out of action after suffering a relapse.
In his absence, Boulaye Dia, Tijjani Noslin and Loum Tchaouna have all been deployed in the centre-forward role, but none of them has been able to make up for Castellanos. Nevertheless, Lazio do not plan to rush the 26-year-old back to action, as the last thing they want is another untimely setback at this crucial stage of the campaign.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Baroni is planning to give the former Girona man some playing time at the end of next weekend’s contest against Atalanta. Afterwards, Castellanos is expected to skip the clash against Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final, as Baroni doesn’t want to risk his striker on the synthetic pitch of the Aspmyra Stadion.
Following a mid-week rest, Lazio would expect the striker to regain his optimal physical shape and lead the line against Roma in the Derby della Capitale on April 13th. This will surely be one of the club’s most pivotal games of the season (if not the most important), especially with the blood rival now tied on points.
