Filippo Terracciano will make his first home start since joining AC Milan in tonight’s game against Udinese, and he admitted that it is a ‘great opportunity’ to show what he can do.

Theo Hernandez’s red card at the end of Fiorentina-Milan left a collateral effect because head coach Paulo Fonseca – at this critical moment – will not have his starting left-back for the next two games. However, it opened up a chance for someone else to take.

It seemed throughout the week as though Terracciano was a step ahead of Alex Jimenez in the battle to take the spot of the Frenchman and Fonseca did indeed name him in his starting line-up for the game.

Having signed from Verona the last winter mercato not much has been seen of the defender, though he did start against Lazio back in round three when Fonseca decided to bench Theo and Rafael Leao.

Terracciano spoke to Milan TV moments before kick-off and his statements were relayed by MilanNews.

It’s your first San Siro start for Milan…

“It’s a great opportunity that I’ve been waiting for. I work every day to be ready for this opportunity here, and then I’ll be ready.”

What kind of match do you expect today against Udinese?

“A match that we have prepared well for. It will be important in the first minutes to immediately read the spaces to occupy and play a great match.”
