We were dealt a massive blow today with the news that Jota has been ruled out for up to nine months after picking up an ACL injury in the title clinching win at Tannadice last weekend. To say he will be a huge loss is an understatement as he was just starting to get back to peak fitness after his lack of game time over the previous 18 months.
With a Scottish Cup final also looming it deprives us of a top quality option, and with focus now shifting towards next season it’s ever so vital we look to plug that gap left by his absence.

We have a Champions League qualifier to negotiate in August and need to be at our strongest to be in with a chance of taking part in the new look group stage for a second year running. With that in mind, it’s important we do all that we can to bring in someone of a similar quality.

It’s an area that was already in need of being strengthened, but with Jota’s injury it’s all the more important the club addresses this quickly and with a quality signing who is coming in ready and able to contribute straight away.
