Rasmus Hojlund takes no prisoners in training, which one of his Denmark team-mates had to learn the hard way, even though former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster may think it’s a bit much.

The Manchester United forward knocked out part of a team-mate’s tooth in a set-piece training session during at Euro 2024.

Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen took the blow following an aerial battle with Hojlund.

Speaking on The Fozcast with Ben Foster, Hermansen revealed: “You know as a goalkeeper sometimes when you have set-piece practice. It’s like ‘we are going 100 per cent? Are we just a bit easy?”

“So we were with the national team just before the Euros it was optional training, you could come in and train if you want. So let’s do some corners.

“I go: ‘Keepers!’ And he [Hojlund] just comes in with everything, elbow straight to my tooth. I took a corner off when I was younger as well so it was just the same bit of plastic.”

Foster, who played for United during his career, replied like we was teeing up a WWE event between two wrestlers: “Cheers Rasmus, appreciate that. That’s rubbish that. I’m not having that, it’s poor. When you’re doing it in a bit of practice set piece thing, you’ve got to take it easy. You can’t go full blooded like that.”

That was before Hermansen made it clear to Foster that Hojlund did not intend to hurt him: “But he is that kind of guy and I love that about him. He’s giving everything, always. He’s just got an exceptional way of being a professional.”

Denmark went on to reach the last-16 of Euro 2024 after finishing in second place in Group C behind England. They suffered a knockout blow to Germany in the same way Hojlund got his hands on Hermansen (joke).

A hamstring injury sustained during pre-season kept Hojlund out of action for the first seven weeks of the weeks.

The United striker missed lots of football and is still trying to get himself back to full fitness.

Hojlund is expected to start today against Brentford in the 3 pm kick-off at Old Trafford. Hopefully he’s amongst the goals because we need the three points.
