The powers that be at Barcelona were keeping a close eye on the performances of two members of the club’s attacking ranks in their La Liga season opener.

That’s according to Barca insider Gerard Romero, who points towards Raphinha and Ferran Torres as the pair in question.

Both wide-man Raphinha and forward Ferran were of course in from the off on Saturday night.

This came as the Blaugrana kicked their campaign into gear, courtesy of a tricky trip to Mestalla, to take on Valencia.

When all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, owing to a brace on the part of veteran frontman Robert Lewandowski.

Raphinha, afforded something of a new role through the centre, also showcased flashes of excellence, particularly during the 2nd-half.

With the Camp Nou brass having been watching on with a close eye with a view to the final weeks of the transfer window, the former Manchester City man, in turn, will need to imminently step up his game…
