The last four of the tournament between Liga MX and Major League Soccer teams has arrived and that saw a handful of players bag spectacular goals to give their sides the best chance at reaching the semi-finals.
We saw MLS stars like Denis Bouanga and Mikael Uhre find the back of the net in impressive fashion while MLS icon Kei Kamara turned back the clock with a volleyed effort against Seattle Sounders. Although NYCFC were knocked out at the hands of Columbus Crew, Alonso Martinez made history by scoring the fastest goal in team history by pouncing on a defensive error by the reigning MLS Cup champions.
Here are the best goals from the Leagues Cup Quarter-finals.
Columbus' Rudy Camacho would love to be able to replay this moment as he waited just a little too long to release the pass out wide to Steven Moreira. That allowed Alonso Martinez enough time to intercept Camacho's attempted pass before darting forward and finishing with ease past Patrick Schulte to score the fastest goal in NYCFC's history.
Club America and Mazatlan were the only remaining Mexican clubs in Leagues Cup with the latter scoring in their Quarter-final match while the former couldn't break the deadlock vs Colorado Rapids. Even though Mazatlan were unable to progress to the Semi-finals after falling short in penalty kicks, Jesus Escoboza gave the Liga MX club a fighting chance in the match with a well-placed header to even things up in the second half.
There's well-placed goals, and then there's well-placed goals. The longtime MLS striker Kei Kamara added to LAFC's lead in their Quarter-final bout against Western Conference foes Seattle Sounders with a brilliant strike that didn't require much pace to get past Stefan Frei.
Take a bow, Mikael Uhre. Philadelphia's No. 7 started things off with a perfectly-timed run toward the Mazatlan penalty area before peeling off and chipping Daniel Gutierrez from a tight angle.
There was simply no way reigning Golden Boot winnger Denis Bouanga wasn't going to get on the scoresheet in LAFC's dominant win over the SoundersThe Gabon international has been in the form of his life over the past couple of seasons and he only added to his goal catalogue with an incredible run while maintaining composure to score the Black and Gold's third of the match.
