Here's The Debrief of the action on Sunday.

What happened? 📝

England scored twice in 90 seconds to knock out Slovakia, as Jude Bellingham scored in the fifth minute of added time to force extra time, before Harry Kane headed home the winner a minute into extra time to see them run out 2-1 winners.

They were joined by Spain, who also fell behind against Georgia but went on to make their mark in the competition, seeing off the minnows in comfortable fashion.

Player of the day 🔥

Declan Rice was excellent in the England engine room, but Nico Williams stole the show for Spain.

The youngster has been one of his nation's standout players this tournament and underlined that fact once more with an excellently taken goal, as well as grabbing an assist in a performance that will leave the Georgian defenders having nightmares for the rest of the summer.

Moment of the day 😍

What else could it be? With a minute left in added time and England staring at their worst ever defeat in a major tournament, Jude Bellingham sprung into action, firing home an acrobatic effort to force extra time against Slovakia.

Of course, England went onto win, and should they kick into gear the goal could go down as one of England's most important ever.

It wasn't to be for Georgia today, but they still go down as history makers after making it out of the group stages, and their fans were sure to let them know just how proud of them they were in the aftermath of their defeat to Spain.

Stat of the day 📊

Lamine Yamal still has the rest of the tournament to add youngest ever goalscorer at a European Championship to his CV, but he already boasts so many records across both domestic and international level.

Playing with a maturity so far above his years, it's often easy to forget just how young he is, but Jesus Navas coming on reminded everyone of how bright his career looks to be given his performances already.

What this means 🤔

England (minus the suspended Marc Guehi) now face another tough test in the last eight as they face Switzerland, who knocked out reigning champions Italy.

Meanwhile, Spain will face Germany in a clash between two of the favourites for the competition.

What they said 🗣️

England boss Gareth Southgate hailed the win as a massive moment for his side, explaining: "It's a really powerful moment for the team. It's one thing to win a game with all your star players, but for other players o get us over the line, to feel they're trusted, is massive for us."

Meanwhile, defender David Hancko couldn't hide his disappointment.

"I haven't been so sad about football in a long time. I know it's just a game, but we were very close to something special; something we dreamed of. We did everything we could to make it happen, but in the end it turned on its head. Bellingham's equaliser was a dagger to the heart."

What comes next? ⏭️

The second half of the round of 16 ties get underway tomorrow, with tournament favourites France taking on struggling Belgium before Portugal face Slovenia in a day that will see the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and Kevin de Bruyne take centre stage.
