If you haven’t seen Silas Wamangituka’s tap-in against Werder Bremen from the last week, you absolutely have to check it out.

Through no on goal with no goalkeeper to beat, he carried the ball to the line and waited to be joined by a Werder Bremen defender before sticking it over the line.

And it got us wondering, what is the most disrespectful goal you’ve ever seen?

Lewis Ambrose

Before he was on fire, Will Grigg was just a man who played up front for MK Dons. And he scored twice in a 4-0 win over Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United.

The second of his goals, to put his side 2-0 up, was unbelievably cheeky, as he opted not to head a cross towards goal but to flick it into the bottom corner with his chest. Incredible.

It would be remiss of me not to go for Mario Balotelli’s nonchalant goal with his shoulder against Norwich back in 2011/12.

That’s a goal that could only have been scored by a man who famously once said: “When I score I don’t celebrate, it’s my job. Does a postman celebrate when he delivers post?”

The Italian Serie B isn’t gonna know what’s hit it.

When Karim Benzema broke through as a teenager at Lyon, he was a genuine phenomenon in French football.

And nothing highlighted that ability more than his cheeky finish against Caen.

Through on goal with a player alongside him, he faked the easy pass inside, completely fooled the goalkeeper and passed into an empty net.

For me, this has to go to Emirati footballer Theyab Awana. When playing for the UAE national team at 21 years of age in a friendly against Lebanon, he was instructed to take a penalty.

Halfway through his run-up to the ball, Awana turned around and kicked the ball into the goal with his right heel. The goalkeeper was stunned and Awana immediately subbed off by his coach for what he did. However, the match did end in a 6-2 victory for the UAE and the player was brought to worldwide fame thanks to the penalty; a win-win for both player and team!

He may have been 34 and well past his prime, but in 1981 George Best was still a cut above the rest in the North American Soccer League.

Playing for San Jose Earthquakes against his former side Fort Lauderdale Strikers, the Belfast native sliced effortlessly through the Florida side’s defence before lashing the ball home with palpable contempt.

Best even gave the referee a tongue-lashing and a death stare for good measure. Point taken, George!

It has been repeated a few times in the game and this effort from Herman Koré in 2015 is just one example of it.

But heading the ball in on the ground is a taunt usually only reserved for scoring on the school playground. It even led to a mass scuffle.
