The action-packed matches in Group E between Portugal, Scotland, Finland and Cyprus led to another team claiming a berth.

Finland qualified after a 93rd-minute winner from all-time top scorer Linda Sällström saw them beat Portugal 1-0. They return to competition for the first time since 2013.

The Portuguese did go on to earn their own spot in the play-offs after beating Scotland 2-0.

As a result, Scotland did not qualify and are currently the highest-ranked country (21st in the world) European country to miss out on next year’s tournament.

Austria, who made it to the 2017 semi-finals in their first-ever tournament appearance, qualified as well.

Italy also joined the bunch after closing out the group stage action with a thumping 12-0 victory over Israel on 24 February.

With 12 spots taken, just three berths remain.

Six teams enter the play-offs to decide who grabs the final tickets to England.

Czech Republic, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland and Ukraine will all participate.

Ties will be decided after the draw on 5 March with the matches taking place from 7 to 13 of April.
