Theo Hernandez has claimed that his ‘Theao’ relationship with Rafael Leao is back after some struggles to begin the season, and he also spoke about his future at AC Milan in a positive way.

Milan moved top of the Serie A table at least temporarily as they comfortably beat Lecce 3-0 at San Siro tonight, and it was all thanks to three goals in five first-half minutes of which Theo got the second.

Just two minutes after the opening goal, the lead was doubled and it was Theo who was involved again, this time turning from provider to scorer after his free-kick set up Alvaro Morata’s header.

A simply exquisite through ball from Leao was bent perfectly around the defence and stopped nicely for the French full-back to hammer a shot into the roof of the net at the near post and make it 2-0.

Theo spoke to Sky and DAZN after the game to answer questions on the win over Lecce and also how he feels at Milan, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

Is ‘Theao’ final back?

“Yes, it’s finally back. In the first few games we weren’t 100% mentally and physically. Now I’m feeling good, which is the most important thing.”

You pointed to Leao after the goal…

“The assist is his, then I scored an even more beautiful goal (laughs). I’m happy.”

Bayer Leverkusen await on Tuesday night…

“We didn’t have the certainties we wanted against Liverpool. Now we have a very tough match ahead of us, we have to recover well and we have to train well to get to that very important match.”

How do you feel the game went?

“It was great. We weren’t good in the first matches but now we’re starting to work well, play well and do what the coach tells us. We’re happy to have played a great match, which is the most important thing.”

You have equalled Paolo Maldini’s 29 Serie A goals for Milan…

“I didn’t know that. I’m happy to have scored so many goals with this club and I hope to score even more.”

You’ve been at Milan for six years, will you stay long like Maldini?

“I’m very happy here, the fans love me and the team loves me and that’s the most important thing.”
