Frankfurt could potentially look to sign Kristensen permanently, but they may want to renegotiate terms.

There's a real chance Eintracht Frankfurt may want to sign Rasmus Kristensen permanently from Leeds United.

This is according to Ben Jacobs, who also told Give Me Sport that the Bundesliga side may be keen to renegotiate the permanent option in the full-back's loan deal if they decide to try and secure a longer-term agreement for the player.

The Dane could have played a big part for the Whites this season, considering they didn't have a high number of right-back options during the early stages of the summer.

Luke Ayling and Cody Drameh both moved on following the expiration of their deals, along with the versatile Jamie Shackleton, who was another option in this department.

Archie Gray, meanwhile, made the move to Tottenham Hotspur after impressing during his first full season in senior men's football, with the teenager playing a big part in the Whites' journey to the play-off final last season.

And Connor Roberts, who joined as a much-needed backup right-back option during the January window, hasn't returned to Elland Road following the end of his loan spell in West Yorkshire, with the Welshman playing a key part under Scott Parker at Burnley now.

All of these departures left Leeds with plenty of work to do in this department and at one point, it looked as though there was a chance Kristensen was going to stay in West Yorkshire for the 2024/25 campaign despite going out on loan to AS Roma last term.

Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober have both stayed put despite their 2023/24 loan spells away from Elland Road, but Kristensen made the loan move to Frankfurt.

Thankfully for the Whites, Jayden Bogle and Isaac Schmidt both arrived permanently to provide quality and depth on the right-hand side.

Frankfurt could look to re-open Rasmus Kristensen talks with Leeds United

After going out on loan twice, it seems inevitable that Kristensen will leave Elland Road permanently at some point, and Jacobs believes his current loan team could make his deal permanent, having negotiated an option to sign him for the long term.

But he believes Frankfurt could look to negotiate this option to secure a better deal for themselves.

Jacobs told Give Me Sport: "Rasmus Kristensen has impressed Frankfurt both on and off the field and it's a shame he's picked up a muscle injury and will miss a few weeks.

"Kristensen has proven reliable, and Frankfurt also view him as a positive dressing-room influence.

"There is a chance they try to sign him permanently, but it's likely if so they try to negotiate the €15m option to buy. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

"If Leeds don't go up, Frankfurt might be able to do a bargain deal but it's too early to tell right now."

Leeds United and Rasmus Kristensen could benefit from parting ways

Kristensen clearly doesn't want to play for the Whites in the Championship - and fans may not be keen to see him return - partly because of that.

Aaronson and Wober have the chance to redeem themselves and show their loyalty to the Whites.

Kristensen may not have that chance after going out on loan twice and this is why the West Yorkshire side should consider cashing in on him, even if they are promoted at the end of the season.

Ideally for the Whites, they will be promoted, because that puts them in a stronger position to demand the €15m.

That money could be used to boost Leeds' 2025 summer window budget.
