And, safe to say, the Spanish patron was in no mood to hold back…

Barca, as a club, have of course found themselves front and centre in the media headlines across all of Europe once more across the day to date.

This comes after the Blaugrana were dealt a heavy blow at boardroom level.

As confirmed in a statement released by La Liga, cited by Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish football powers that be have ‘invalidated the financial fair play operation that allowed FC Barcelona to register Pau Víctor and Dani Olmo’.

As much comes after the Camp Nou board failed to include the needed €100 million from the sale of the club’s VIP stadium seats in their latest budget.

Faced by the media on Wednesday evening, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of La Liga’s announcement was quickly put to the aforementioned Joan Laporta.

And Barcelona’s president made use of the opportunity to hit back, in absolutely no uncertain terms.

In quotes relaid by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Laporta sniped:

“We will respond to La Liga. They want to attack our interests. La Liga approved the signings of Pau Victor and Olmo and now they’ve changed their minds. Why!? Did they do a bad job in the first place when they approved the operations?

“We’re playing a key match tonight and La Liga is communicating this morning. Strange! They can’t beat us on the pitch, so they act off it.

“Trust me, my response to La Liga and Tebas will be strong. As president, I simply cannot allow this!”
