‘They’re similar’ – Barcelona star draws comparisons between Xavi & Hansi Flick | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this weekend drawn comparisons between current head coach Hansi Flick, and predecessor Xavi.

This, of course, comes fresh off the former getting his stint on the Barca bench up and running on Saturday night.

In the first fixture of the Flick era, the Blaugrana made the trip to Mestalla to face Valencia, as part of the opening round of La Liga fixtures.

And, when all was said and done, the visitors emerged on the right side of the result, owing to a brace on the part of veteran frontman Robert Lewandowski.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at Mestalla, Barca defender Pau Cubarsí, who played his part in the club’s triumph, was in turn drawn on life under the new management in Catalunya’s capital.

Specifically, Cubarsí was asked whether or not he sees any similarities between the styles of Hansi Flick, and predecessor Xavi.

And the 17-year-old went on to confirm precisely as much, in responding:

“Comparisons between Flick and Xavi? They both want to play attacking football and they both have high demands. I think they are pretty similar.”
