Juventus head coach Thiago Motta has suggested that he does not want Dusan Vlahovic to leave, amid speculation that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to bring the striker to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.
Arsenal want to sign a new striker following the injury to Brazil international Gabriel Jesus and are keen on a deal for Juventus ace Vlahovic (Calciomercato.it).
The Gunners wanted to sign the Serbia international striker back in January 2022 before he moved to Juventus from Serie A rivals Fiorentina for £66.6 million (Sky Sports).
Juventus have just signed Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, while Nico Gonzalez, on loan from Fiorentina, is able to down the middle as a centre-forward as well.
Kolo Muani started for Juventus against Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Serie A on Saturday, with Vlahovic coming on in his place in the 82nd minute.
Juventus head coach Motta has praised the striker for his attitude and has indicated that the 24-year-old Serbia international knows how much he values him and how important he will be to the team for the second half of the season.
Calciomercato quotes Motta as saying when asked about leaving Vlahovic out of the starting line-up against Napoli: “How did he react? Very good, very positive guy, very positive leader for the team. He came back from a small injury. When he participated, he helped the team a lot.
“He knows that he can also be an important choice in the second half to have a different profile, a different characteristic and maintain or raise our level to play a full game of 95 minutes.”
While Juventus want to keep Vlahovic, Arsenal have to make a bid for the striker in the final days of the January transfer window.
What have the Gunners got to lose? The worst thing that could happen is Juventus will reject it.
The chance to play for a massive Premier League club that could win the league title could prove too tempting to resist for the striker.
Vlahovic has scored 12 goals and given two assists in 26 matches in all competitions so far this season.
The striker scored 18 goals and gave three assists in 38 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign.
