Becir Omeragic is a name that has been linked with AC Milan in the past, and it seems that the Montpellier defender is still on their radar.
A report from TMW states that Omeragic is continuing his growth after his initial emergence with FC Zurich and then his move to Montpellier. The Swiss defender has been ranked as one of the best U23 centre-backs in Europe’s ‘top five’ leagues after becoming a regular in Ligue 1.
A thigh injury has sidelined him in recent weeks and he missed the internationals over the break, but Italian clubs are still looking at him with interest. After having signed him on a free transfer they could sell him for around €6-7m.
Several clubs from Serie A have enquired, with Napoli, Milan and Torino mentioned. The formula could be a loan with obligation to buy, because the French side intend to cash in for a capital gain before his deal runs out in June 2028.
Omeragic’s change of agent must also be taken into account. The defender has signed with Excency, a Lausanne agency owned by Claudio Gonzalez, and it is a move aimed at seeking a new contract in view of the next transfer window.
It was first reported by Sky back in 2019 – over five years ago – that Milan were closing in on signing the then-teenager. The most recent story to link the Rossoneri was in January 2022, but it seems that Omeragic never left the notebook.
