Celin Bizet Ildhusøy and Grace Clinton got the goals as The Red Devils recorded a relatively straightforward victory at The Joie Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
When speaking to the media in the post-match press conference, Manchester United boss Skinner was full of priase for his side after they booked their place in a third consecutive Adobe Women’s FA Cup final.
“To do it, to get back to the final is the main thing,” Skinner said. “I’m really pleased, especially at the performance, I thought that was incredible.
“City have injuries but credit to the players because I thought we dominated. There are moments where we should be punishing them even more, but to get back to the final is the main thing.”
Youngster Clinton impressed again but was taken off shortly after picking up a yellow card. Skinner said that he substituted the midfielder for her own protection.
He said “I took Grace off because she was on a yellow and I couldn’t risk her potentially not being part of the final squad again because she doesn’t deserve that.
“I think it’s a great bit of recruitment in terms of we identified Grace early. It’s like three seasons ago or something when she was at Everton and I knew that her platform should be at Manchester United.”
Alongside the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, The Red Devils are still fighting for European qualification and Skinner has sent a clear message out to his players.
He said “In this block of games, the phrase that I want to use is don’t ask for permission; don’t ask the opponent for permission to beat them, just go and beat them and when everyone doubts you, you can tell them how we did it.
“I want to make sure that we celebrate the moment. We have got four really great teams to play and then the final and that’s business.”
Manchester United are next in action when they travel to West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.
