Marianna Mecacci, a member of Sandro Tonali’s entourage, says the Italian midfielder wants to take ‘Premier League opportunity’ but it’s ‘impossible’ not to think he’ll return to Serie A one day.
Tonali joined Newcastle from Milan for around €60m in 2023 and has been playing a key role for the Premier League side since his return from a betting ban earlier this season.
Marianna Mecacci, a member of his entourage, was asked whether the ex-Milan star would return to Italy one day.

“It’s hard to say. He is an Italian football treasure; seeing a man grow through difficulties is beautiful,” she replied to the Sportitalia podcast Di Tutto un Pod.
“I started following him at Brescia, and that move that took him to England was extraordinary.”
Tonali is a long-time Milan fan and his move to Newcastle two years ago surely let a few fans down. Many are now asking Tonali on his social media to return to Milan.
“I realise it caused some discontent. Tonali, a son of Milan with faith that exists and will always remain, was sold for a record fee. It was also a choice to try a new experience,” said Mecacci.
“As long as there is the opportunity in the Premier League, he will take it, but it’s impossible to think he won’t return to Italian football.”
How soon, however, remains to be seen as Tonali’s agent, Beppe Riso, had already discussed the midfielder’s future a few weeks ago, suggesting that currently, no Serie A club can afford to sign him.
