While Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies are touted as the top priorities for Real Madrid for the summer of 2025, they also have their eyes on Bayer Leverkusen and Germany attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz.
The 21-year-old sensation, for quite some time now, has been on the radars of Los Blancos and was regarded as one of the major objectives for the club before next season.
However, with talks of him being close to signing a new contract with Leverkusen gaining strength in recent weeks, the chances of a move have seemingly declined.
Despite that, Real Madrid continue to hold a concrete interest in the Bundesliga wonderkid and have now received the blessings of one of their greatest ever players, Toni Kroos, to go ahead with the operation.
Indeed, during a recent interaction with BILD, Kroos, who retired from football last year, has claimed that Florian Wirtz has the qualities to be an excellent addition at Real Madrid.
“He can adapt to any team, including Real Madrid. With his quality, I think it’d be a great addition,” explained Kroos.

Having played an integral part in Bayer Leverkusen’s successful season in 2023/24, Wirtz has once again been in impressive form in the ongoing campaign.
The 21-year-old has already accumulated a tally of 12 goals and eight assists from just 25 appearances in all competitions, standing out as one of Europe’s top young rising stars.
As such, Wirtz fits the profile of players Real Madrid are looking to recruit and Kroos, who spent an extremely successful decade at the Santiago Bernabeu, reckons that his compatriot would be a great addition to the current team.
However, as mentioned earlier, a move this summer could be complicated to pull off, especially if Leverkusen are successful in agreeing a new contract with the German ace.
