Ivan Ilic thought he had scored a late equaliser for Torino against Como, but his goal was disallowed due to Cristiano Biraghi’s double touch on a corner kick.

A late Ilic goal was disallowed at the Stadio Sinigaglia in Como on Sunday, ruling out the visitors’ equaliser.

The Torino midfielder found the net on a rebound from a corner kick taken by Biraghi, but his goal was disallowed after a VAR check.

Replays appear to show that the goal was ruled out because Biraghi accidentally touched the ball twice while taking the corner kick.

Why Torino equaliser was disallowed

The incident recalls a recent controversy involving Real Madrid and their city rivals, Atletico Madrid.

The Colchoneros striker, Julian Alvarez, had a goal disallowed in the penalty shootout during the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 for a double-kick penalty.

Both Biraghi and Alvarez slipped before taking their set piece, accidentally touching the ball twice.

Torino eventually suffered a 1-0 away loss.
