Angel Gomes came through the Manchester United academy. However, unable to establish himself there he then moved to Lille in the summer of 2020. Since then, he has done really well to rejuvenate his career and emerge as a valuable resource.

Gomes has featured in 15 games this season so far, finding the back of the net once. In the process, he has also provided one assist. He is averaging 0.8 tackles, 0.2 interceptions, and 0.5 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The English international is versatile to don any role in the middle of the park. He remains composed under pressure and takes intelligent good touch. He can dribble and provide visionary line-breaking passes in the final third.
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Angel Gomes is understandable as boss Ange Postecoglou is having doubts over the quality of James Maddison. To strengthen the midfield unit, the English international could be an apt choice for sure.
Gomes’ versatility, experience, and qualities will be extremely useful. His prior Premier League experience will help him to adapt fast and start hitting the ground. Notably, his contract expires at the end of the season and he is unlikely to sign an extension.
The 24-year-old is willing to take a new challenge in his career and joining Spurs could be a good move. Tottenham Hotspur possess an exciting sporting project even if they are far away from lifting the titles. It remains to be seen if the player will fancy joining his former club and try his luck with a new badge.
