Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly sent scouts to watch Barcelona striker Vitor Roque, according to Samuel Silva.
After tearing up the Brazilian top flight, Roque earned a reputation as one of the best talents in South America, and European clubs lined up to sign him.
Barcelona snapped up Roque in January in a deal worth around €31 million fixed plus another €31m in add-ons.
His contract states that he can receive up to €5m for winning the Ballon d’Or, showing the potential scouts saw in him, but he struggled for game time at the club.
The 19-year-old only made 16 appearances across all competitions for the Catalan giants, bagging two goals.
Some people believe he left his homeland too early. UOL linked him with a move to Palmeiras, although his agent is clear he doesn’t want to return to Brazil.
Tottenham have emerged as a potential landing spot, with the club keen to bolster their forward line with Roque, who has registered six goals and two assists in 23 appearances for Real Betis this term.
Betis cannot afford to make the deal permanent, allowing Spurs to swoop in and potentially snag the player from under their noses.
Adding Roque to the ranks could be a game-changing move for the club. He has already showcased the raw talent and tools to become a top-class striker..
Despite the challenging stint at Barcelona, Roque has demonstrated his quality in the Brazilian top flight and during his loan spell with Betis.
His finishing can become more clinical, and his hold-up play could use some finetuning, but he is heading for the top.
Compatriots Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes took their time to get acclimatised to European football and are now dominating the scene. The Barca man can follow in their footsteps.
Roque could serve as an understudy behind Dominic Solanke, earning valuable playing time while adapting to the Premier League.
His dynamic playing style, which combines explosive pace, sharp technical skills and clinical finishing, would make him a formidable asset in Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system.
Roque has all the tools to become one of the best forwards in the world. His determination to prove himself in Europe, even after a rocky start, is a testament to his mental toughness and ambition.
