Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to bring in reinforcements before the February 3 transfer deadline.
Spurs looked close to signing Mathys Tel after agreeing a £50 million deal with Bayern Munich.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy reportedly travelled to Munich for face-to-face talks but the Bundesliga forward rejected them.
A report from the Daily Mail claimed the Lilywhites have made a shock enquiry for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho following Tel’s rejection.
However, the Mirror report the north Londoners are not currently pursuing a move for Garnacho.
The Argentina international’s future at Old Trafford has been a source of speculation this winter.
He has been sparingly used by Ruben Amorim this season, but the Portuguese boss praised the forward after his impressive display in Thursday’s 2-0 win over FCSB.
Napoli are very keen to sign the 20-year-old, but they are not willing to meet United’s £60m valuation.
Chelsea have also been credited with an interest, though they haven’t made a concrete offer for Garnacho, who has been described as a “generational” star by Statman Dave.
Tottenham are enduring a huge injury crisis at the moment, with nine players sidelined with fitness issues.
Radu Dragusin became the latest injury victim, joining Dominic Solanke, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, Djed Spence, Micky van de Ven, Wilson Odobert and Cristian Romero on the sidelines.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are languishing in 15th place in the table, and they must make a few quality additions to save their season. But they are currently finding it very hard to bring in new players.
