Chelsea are one club reportedly keen on Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres. However, the Blues might be looking at an alternative target over the Swedish goal scorer.

Last week, CaughtOffside reported that Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and PSG are the key players in the race for Gyökeres, with Spurs showing the most interest in the forward.

The Parisians’ interest may depend on whether the club chooses to part ways with Gonçalo Ramos or Randal Kolo Muani after the season, a situation that remains uncertain, per CaughtOffside.

Nonetheless, Chelsea could be looking at a more economical striker to help them improve their No. 9 production. According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are expressing interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface.

The 23-year-old striker is reportedly valued at around £70 million, which is significantly less than what players like Gyökeres would cost. Recently, transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano noted in his column that Sporting have set their demand for the player.

“What I can tell you about Gyökeres is that Sporting – as they were very clear in the summer transfer window – remain intent on asking for the full release clause,” Romano wrote. “They want €100 million or the player stays. We will follow the situation closely because Gyökeres is clearly one of the best number nines around Europe.”

Boniface, who is under contract with the German side until 2028, has made 45 appearances across all competitions while scoring 25 goals and registering 11 assists.
