Trabzonspor are winning the race to sign Maxi Gómez from Valencia, report Marca.
Earlier this week it was communicated that the Uruguayan striker was close to joining Fenerbahçe.
However, the Turkish side have been difficult to deal with throughout the negotiation process and it is believed that Los Che will accept Trabzonspor’s bid instead, even though they have submitted an offer of the same value.
According to the agreement, Trabzonspor would pay €6m to Valencia in order to secure the services of the 26-year-old, in addition to add-ons.
Valencia have been looking to sell Gómez throughout this transfer window to free up a space in their squad. They had to lower their asking price as they didn’t find anyone who was willing to pay the €12m price tag that they put on the player in early summer.
Following the arrival of his compatriot Edinson Cavani, it is very unlikely that Gómez would get many minutes on the pitch at Valencia this season.
