Manchester City defen”der Sergio Gomez has completed a permanent transfer to La Liga side Real Sociedad.

The 23-year-old has left the Etihad Stadium two years after completing an £11 million move to Manchester City from RSC Anderlecht, where the full-back has won six trophies, including two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

Gomez, who made only 15 appearances and four starts during the recent 2023/24 season, made his Manchester City debut during a 4-2 win over Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium, prior to being handed a first start by Pep Guardiola against Sevilla in September 2022.

The defender has been selected to represent Spain at the Olympics in Paris this summer, and has previously played for Spain’s Under-21s at international tournaments.

Gomez’s last Manchester City appearance came during a 0-4 victory over Brighton at the AMEX Stadium in April, as the Cityzens marched towards a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title.

The 23-year-old defender has completed a €10 million move to San Sebastian from Manchester City, signing a long-term contract with Real Sociedad after two seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

“Gomez spent two seasons at City after signing in 2022 from Anderlecht. The 23-year-old’s spell at the Etihad saw him make 38 appearances as he helped the Blues win six trophies.

“The left-back was part of the squad that won the Treble of Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in 2022/23 followed by the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League across 2023/24.”
