Transfer interest at last in technical midfielder Chelsea could loan or sell to Bundesliga

Carney Chukwuemeka is one of the players Chelsea are most keen to sell this winter, and it looks like finally we may have some interest.

While fellow for sale midfielder Cesare Casadei is being linked all over the shop, Chukwuemeka’s market has been very quiet. Finally we have some whispers, with Sky Germany man Florian Plettenberg reporting that Borussia Dortmund are “closely monitoring” the youngster, who has a Chelsea contract until 2028 but is effectively an outcast from Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chukwuemeka was supposed to leave in the summer, but a permanent deal couldn’t be found. He will be hoping that Dortmund make this deal happen so he can escape his West London purgatory. Interestingly, Plettenberg says Chelsea would accept a loan deal, which contradicts what we’ve heard from elsewhere about the Blues wanting a permanent deal only.

Dortmund look to snap up another top talent from English football

This would be a very Dortmund deal indeed. They love to snag an undervalued, underused young English talent and get them playing, only to sell them on for a vast profit in the future.

At 21, Chukwuemeka would be at the upper end of their usual operating range – but his lack of career starts really means he’s more like a 19 year old in terms of potential both his playing ability and his value.

The German side also want a midfielder in the style that Chukwuemeka provides, making it all add up quite nicely. We can see the skilful former Aston Villa man really thriving in the open, attacking games in the Bundesliga, and all we want now is to see him back to his best. It looks like he will never get that chance at Chelsea, so perhaps this is best for him too.
