He’s a long way from the first team. But newly signed Orlando City B goalkeeper Tristan Himes will get talked about this season.

Orlando City B just signed Academy product goalkeeper Tristan Himes to an MLS Next Pro contract. His pathway through the Orlando Academy system puts him in a solid spot for future consideration as a netminder for the first team.

At this signing, Himes looks to be a long way from the first team. But when the scouts report how solidly he performs he could get some short-term callups in the 2025 season.

He already has seasoning beyond the Academy experience, reports Vice President of Soccer Operations and Technical Director Ricardo Moreira. Himes is a Homegrown player. Yet he earned additional experience on the collegiate level.

Himes played two seasons for the University of South Carolina. Then he transferred to Coastal Carolina University for his junior and senior seasons. He played 23 matches in the net across three seasons. There he made 57 saves and earned three clean sheets.

His previous club experience includes the MLS Elite U19/U18 and Orlando City Youth Soccer U16 ECNL, among other competitions.

Himes early on Himes may prove naturally capable of playing well away from the net. As a freshman, he earned an assist on Carolina’s lone goal against Coastal Carolina. That was how he ended up in the opposing university’s coaches' notes for entertaining offers for his transfer.

He joins the Orlando City B roster at a rich time. The organization now has a technical partnership with Sporting Clube de Portugal that will enrich experiences from the players to the front office.

Orlando City B finished second in the MLS Next Pro Southeast Division with a record of 11-8-9. So Tristan Himes will have the opportunity to help them ride the momentum to an even stronger finish this season.
