Harry Kane has suggested England will play more on the front foot under Thomas Tuchel compared with his predecessor Gareth Southgate.
Tuchel takes charge of his first England game since being named as the new Three Lions boss on Friday when they take on Albania in a World Cup qualifier.
And Kane says he and his team-mates want to excite supporters, echoing Tuchel’s comments about his ambitions in the job.
“He’s definitely spoken a lot about the counter press, when we’re losing the ball, especially the attacking players having that responsibility to try and win it back as quick as we can,” Kane explained.
“I think we’ll build up to try and play out and have a lot of the ball and a lot of possession. Then ultimately, create a lot of chances.
“We have the team to do that, we have a lot of players in good form, young players who bring a lot of energy to the team and tomorrow night it will be down to us to do that, to excite the Wembley crowd.
“It will be a tough game but I think everyone is excited to get out there and show what we can do.”
Kane played under Tuchel at Bayern Munich, signing for the German boss in 2023, and the 31-year-old praised the passion Tuchel has brought to the role already.
“I think they’re totally different characters in their personalities, the way they are on the pitch and probably off the pitch as well,” he said when asked about the differences between Tuchel and Southgate.
“Obviously I had a great relationship with Gareth. We’re similar in a lot of ways. I think we’re quite quiet, quite understanding and we had a lot of conversations about things.
“With Thomas, I think he brings a lot more energy and enthusiasm, already this week on the training pitch and in the meetings, he brings a lot of passion when he’s talking and it’s been great.
“I saw a lot of it last season and he was a big reason why I went to Bayern Munich in the first place.
“I know his attributes and I know how good of a coach he is, and I think all the boys have been impressed with him.”
