News emerged this weekend that Matteo Gabbia faces some time sidelined, and this morning an update has arrived about the AC Milan defender’s condition.

This season, few players have been more important than the Italian central defender. For this reason – and the work he did last season – he is set to be given a new contract shortly. However, his importance has come with a setback.

Last night reports suggested that the defender had suffered a muscle injury, and there were initial fears for how long he could be absent for, and this morning an update has arrived.

Tuttosport (via Milan News) suggest that Milan will be without him for at least the next two games – tomorrow’s game against Napoli and the fixture vs. Monza. This is because there are clear signs of an overload, however, it is not serious.

For this reason, it is hoped that he will be present on November 5 against Real Madrid and the game against Cagliari. Imaginably, there will be no pressure to rush him back to action, though, as the club will not want to further risk overloading his minutes shortly after he returns.

Gabbia is expected to have another check-up within the next week, which could be decisive in how the club operate in his recovery.
