Milan Futuro could be relegated to Serie D tonight, taking on SPAL in the second relegation play-off leg, and it would be €15m wasted by the Rossoneri in that case.

After finishing in 18th place in the regular season, Milan Futuro were thrown into the relegation play-off clash against SPAL. The first leg ended 1-0 in favour of the Rossoneri, but the game was at home and tonight’s clash, away from home, is expected to be a lot tougher.

The game is scheduled for tonight, 20:00 local time to be precise, and Milan simply have to come away with at least a draw from this one. As highlighted by Tuttosport this morning (via MilanNews), between the start-up costs and the signings in January, the Rossoneri have invested €15m in the project.

Getting relegated to Serie D after just one season, as such, would be a huge disaster for the club. It would only add to what has been an incredibly disappointing season on all fronts. Certainly, it would increase the scrutiny of the current management.

Especially Jovan Kirovski, who was hired specifically for the Futuro project by his friend Zlatan Ibrahimovic, despite having no experience in Italy whatsoever.
