AC Milan will need to sell players and raise money before they can sign Diogo Leite from Union Berlin to add more depth to the defence.

As has been reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Rossoneri need to focus on outgoings as well as signings if they are to address all of the positions that they want to this summer.

Right now, a new central defender is not one of the top priorities and whilst Milan do have the power to spend in other areas of the pitch before they make sales, that is not the case for Leite’s position.

The priority is to sign a new striker and a new midfielder, with a backup right-back also being higher up the pecking order than a centre-back. That is why talks for players like Alvaro Morata, Youssouf Fofana and Emerson Royal are more advanced.

The Rossoneri have not actually opened talks for Leite with Union Berlin yet but it has the makings of a deal that would not be very hard to complete, providing Milan have the money in the bank.

Selling a player like Ismael Bennacer could be what it takes for Milan to then act on their interest in the Portuguese defender.
