Liverpool are reportedly very interested in a potential transfer swoop for Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen this summer.

The talented 19-year-old has looked hugely impressive for Bournemouth this season and it makes sense that he now seems to be on the radar of a number of top clubs.

CaughtOffside have previously been told about Chelsea and Manchester United being among Huijsen’s suitors, and it now seems we can add Liverpool to that list as well.

That’s according to a report from TEAMtalk, which states that the Spain Under-21 international is wanted by the Reds as he’s set to have a £50million release clause for the summer transfer window.

That could mean Huijsen is actually one of the more affordable centre-backs on the market ahead of next season.

Dean Huijsen to Liverpool as Virgil van Dijk’s long-term successor?

LFC might soon need a major investment at the back as the long-serving Virgil van Dijk is heading towards the end of his contract at Anfield.

The Netherlands international could still sign a new deal, but if he doesn’t then the club will surely have to act as he could leave on a free transfer.

Huijsen is still young and relatively inexperienced, but he’s looked like a terrific prospect with the Cherries and he might end up being an ideal Van Dijk successor for Liverpool.

The likes of United and Chelsea could also do with defensive signings this summer, however, so it remains to be seen how easy it will be for the Merseyside giants to win the race for his signature.

Still, TEAMtalk claim that two top sources have now confirmed Liverpool’s interest, so it seems there is the growing sense that they’re serious about this potential signing.

Arne Slot’s side are also in far better shape than both Chelsea and United right now, so it could make sense as the most tempting option for Huijsen as he considers his next move.
