The final matchday of the newly-formatted UEFA Champions League did not disappoint as all 36 clubs were in action across the continent.
With the future of a number of high-profile sides hanging in the balance, the knockout stage has now begun to take shape after full-time whistles rang out around the grounds.
Two sides came into the final night of action across the continent guaranteed to qualify in the top-eight and achieve an automatic berth into the knockout stage, with Arne Slot's Liverpool topping the table and Hansi Flick's Barcelona setting the pace.
After the results have come in, the pair of European juggernauts will now be joined by Arsenal, Inter, Atlético de Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Lille, and the big shock, Aston Villa.
Sixteen sides arrived on the final day that were guaranteed to finish with a spot in the play-off round at the very least, and a further nine clubs stood with a mathematical chance of achieving the same potential rite of passage in what was tailor-made for one storyline after the next.
After all the action across Europe, here are the sixteen confirmed sides to reach the play-off.
Seeded (9-16): Atalanta, Dortmund, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Milan, PSV, PSG, Benfica
Unseeded (17-24): Monaco, Brest, Feyenoord, Juventus, Celtic, Manchester City, Sporting CP, Club Brugge
Before a ball was kicked in anger tonight, nine sides were already officially ousted from the competition's ranks.
Bundesliga upstarts RB Leipzig were, surprisingly, among the group, which also featured fellow Red Bull outfit RB Salzburg. Joining them were Bologna, Sparta Praha, Girona, Crvena Zvezda, and Sturm Graz, along with winless duo Slovan Bratislava and BSC Young Boys.
Those nine are now joined by Dinamo Zagreb, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Stuttgart.
The draw for the knockout phase play-off of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League is set to take place from 12:00 CET on Friday 31 January.
The knockout phase play-offs are played across a two-week period, beginning on 11-12 February for the first leg, with the second leg set for 18-19 February.
