L’Équipe understands that Florian Thauvin (31) is back on Didier Deschamps’ radar ahead of the upcoming international break.
There were mixed results during the most recent international break with France losing at home to Italy before beating Belgium. Deschamps could therefore mix things up ahead of Les Bleus’ upcoming games against Israel and Belgium in the UEFA Nations League.
According to L’Équipe, Thauvin is the surprise recipient of a provisional call-up ahead of those games. The former Olympique de Marseille forward has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign for Udinese, who are currently top of Ligue 1. The Frenchman has three goals and one assist since the start of the campaign, which has been enough to catch Deschamps’ attention.
Thauvin’s last match for France was against Andorra back in June 2019. It is also the first time he has received a call-up since returning to Europe, when he joined Udinese back in January 2023. He now must wait to see if he features in the final squad.
