FC Barcelona were once again unable to get the full three points from their last La Liga match against Celta Vigo as they drew 2-2 at the Balaidos.
Raphinha put the Blaugranes ahead early in the first half before Lewandowski doubled their lead in the second half, but the game was completely turned in the final ten minutes of regulation time.
Marc Casado got two yellow cards only in a matter of minutes, and was expelled from the game in the 82nd minute. While Barcelona were already reeling from this numerical disadvantage, Jules Kounde made a crucial error that allowed the hosts to get a goal. Then, only two minutes later, Celta once again scored to make the scoreline 2-2.
Thus, there was a lot of blame put on Jules Kounde, as it was his mistake that changed the course of the match. But instead of deflecting blame, the Frenchman was ready to take responsibility for his mistakes as he spoke to the media in the mixed zone after the game.
As SPORT has reported, Kounde took responsibility for the first goal scored by Celta:
“I haven’t played a good game from the start. A lack of concentration, and in the end, you pay a high price for that. My mistake on Celta’s first goal is a gross error that shouldn’t happen… I take responsibility; today I wasn’t focused. In part, we drew the match because of me.”
The French defender went on to highlight that despite playing well in the early phase of the season, the team has not won anything yet, and that his teammates need to make the necessary improvements:
“We haven’t won anything. We were doing things well, and everyone needs to look at themselves to see what they can improve.”
Kounde has been playing at a very high level this season, and this was a rare off day for him. It is good to see him taking responsibility for his mistake, and hopefully, he will work on ensuring such mistakes are not committed in the future.
