Billy Sharp suffers another brisk removal following his cut-short Southampton career. This time, Sharp's unpleasant antics saw him repenting for a reduced playing time.

And that separating factor often lies in the remainder of their playing career away from St. Mary's. The ones who prove their mettle throughout their career go down in Southampton's history books.

Still, there is a long list of honourable mentions who end up accumulating a few negative marks as they draw closer to their retirement. We saw this fact turn true with Victor Wanyama who produced arguably the most comical red-card moment of the year.

Billy Sharp takes a leaf out of Wanyama's mistake

But the defensive midfielder's silly moment has now been overtaken by Billy Sharp's rapid substitute cameo. In the sense, that Sharp's presence might've gone unnoticed by a few fans who even attended the match.

Simply put, Sharp's exaggerated feelings got the better of him. Overall, seasoned players are labelled as relatively more patient professionals than their younger counterparts but Sharp didn't even play a minute before confronting opponents.

Consequently, the referee showed up with his red card and made sure that Sharp didn't forget to watch his recent blooper on repeat for a while.

Only weeks ago, the prolific striker regretted his training mistakes during his Southampton days and now he has more to repent upon. As a Southampton fan, it's hard not to feel sorry for Sharp who initiated the double promotion celebrations at St. Mary's over a decade ago.

He didn't receive enough Premier League praise back then, and his swift departure denied him bigger playing opportunities as well. Hence, let's hope that he do gets the chance to call time on his career on a high note at the very minimum.
