Kicker reports that Union Berlin are leading the race for Wehen Wiesbaden striker Benedict Hollerbach with only the likely confirmation of the deal needed.
1.FC Köln and Heidenheim were both interested in the 22-year-old, with Hollerbach reportedly having agreed on a deal with Köln, only for their transfer ban at the time to stop the signing from being completed. Union have now swept in and the move is close to being finalised.
However, there is currently Sheraldo Becker, Kevin Behrens, Jordan, Jamie Leweling and Mikkael Kaufmann all likely to be ahead of Hollerbach in the pecking order at Union so a loan is not excluded for this upcoming season.
A change in formation at Union is also possible as Leweling can play as a winger while Hollerbach and Kaufmann can also play in wide positions. This could present Hollerbach with the opportunity to play Champions League football next season.
Hollerbach played 41 times for Wiesbaden last season scoring 19 goals as they earned promotion to the Bundesliga at the expense of Arminia Bielefeld.
