Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Union St Gilloise may not have Promise David available for the derby with Anderlecht at the weekend. The league leaders star forward was seen in crutches on Monday. David has been struggling with an ankle injury and was uncertain for the sides victory over Genk at the weekend. The 23-year-old Canadian forward had to be taken off just after half-time and it is clear that he still has some recovery to do.
Union currently have the title race in their own hands after the victory over Genk. If they can win their remaining three matches, they will be champions. David has been an integral player in recent months, with an impressive 21 goals in 38 matches. During the play-offs he has grabbed five in seven as Union have come from behind both Club Brugge and Genk to lead the league. They will certainly be heavy favourites having seen off both teams without defeat so far. Anderlecht, Antwerp and Gent stand between them and a first title since 1935.
