Arsenal registered a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s north London derby.

The Gunners had several key absentees for the Premier League game, but they managed to come on top after Gabriel Magalhaes’ brilliant headed goal in the 64th minute.

Magalhaes and William Saliba were once again impressive in the heart of the backline while Jurrien Timber also needs to be credited for a good showing at left-back.

The Netherlands international completed the full 90 minutes for the first time since his knee injury. He put in a strong defensive shift, particularly during the second half.

Timber won four duels and made five ball recoveries. He also made two tackles with three clearances. He was guilty of losing possession, but made up for it with a tireless work rate.

Shortly after the 1-0 win on the road, the £34 million signing posted on Instagram with the caption: “Painting North London 𝒓𝒆𝒅 for the first time.”

Arsenal legend Ian Wright quickly commented that he was ‘unreal today’ while Bukayo Saka said that he was ‘soo good’.

Arsenal secured a much-needed win over Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. With the result, they have closed the gap to leaders Manchester City to two points.

The Gunners will travel to the Etihad Stadium to face City on Sunday but prior to that, they have a Champions League game on the road to Atalanta on Thursday.

With the travelling time and short turnaround, Mikel Arteta’s side have a huge test at the Etihad. It will be interesting to see how they fare against the English champions.

Timber seems to have nailed the starting role at left-back with a bright start to the season.
