"I grew up on this team, it was so much more than soccer," she said. "It was the friendships and the unwavering respect and suppot among each other, the relentless push for global investment in women's sports, and the pivotal moments of success both on and off the field.

"I am so incredibly honoured to have borrowed the crest for more than 15 years. I learned so much about myself in that time and so much of that is a credit to my teammates and our fans.

"I feel immense pride in where this team is headed, and I will forever be a fan of the USWNT. My desire for success may have always driven me, but what I got in return was more than I could have ever asked and hoped for."

Morgan will finish her career with a total of 224 appearances for the US national team, scoring 123 goals. She currently captains NWSL side San Diego Wave FC, after returning in 2022.

She's also played for Orlando Pride and Portland Thorns over the years, and had brief stints across the pond at Lyon and WSL side Tottenham Hotspur. The striker however, most recently missed out on representing her country at the Paris 2024 Olympics, after being left out the squad by Emma Hayes.

Off the pitch, Morgan relentlessly advocated for the women's game, becoming an inspiration to many young girls across the world.
