Having now conceded that Rasmus Hojlund likely doesn’t have what it takes – at this stage of his career – to lead Manchester United’s line each week, the board have compiled a four-man shortlist of potential frontline additions.
Three of the quartet are currently plying their trade in the Premier League: Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap, while the other is a longstanding target in the form of Lille’s Jonathan David, according to MailSport.
Amid growing interest in their prolific talisman, Wolverhampton Wanderers recently re-outlined their stance that Cunha is off-limits this window. However, that doesn’t always deter interested suitors from testing a club’s resolve – and Nottingham Forest are planning to do exactly that.
Sky Sports have confirmed this week that the league’s high-flyers are mulling over a ‘club-record offer’ for the Brazilian, who currently has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at the Molineux; he’s been locked in negotiations for several weeks over a fresh deal but is yet to put pen to paper and finalise his extension.

Elsewhere, Delap and Mbeumo have also enjoyed stellar seasons thus far, the latter scoring 13 goals and the former notching eight.
Formerly of Manchester City’s academy, Delap has proven to be one bright spark during a tumultuous return to the top flight for Ipswich Town in 2024/2025. Given the calibre of the clubs scouting him, he may be on the way out of Portman Road after only a year if the Tractor Boys fail to retain their Premier League status.
Nonetheless, United might feel be obliged to formalise their interest in a forward if Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho’s mooted exits materialise. As well as the wantaway duo, Antony is also expected to depart on loan to Real Betis imminently, leaving Ruben Amorim considerably short on options for the second half of the term.
