Valencia star Diego López has this week provided an update on his future with the club.
Wide-man López is for his part in the midst of what has been a fine individual campaign to date.
Amid Valencia’s ongoing battle for survival in La Liga, the 22-year-old has proven himself arguably Los Che’s very standout performer.
All told, in 32 appearances across all competitions, López has racked up an impressive eight goals, and five assists.
Those behind the scenes at Mestalla, in turn, have long been hard at work, in efforts to tie their star attacker down to a new long-term contract.
With an agreement as of yet having not been reached, however, López was himself drawn on the situation once more on Thursday morning.
And, in quotes cited by Mundo Deportivo, the Spaniard went on to explain:
“Those conversations have started, but now there are other priorities, like finishing the season well and saving the team. Whatever comes next, will come.
“I have two years left on my contract , and I’m very relaxed about that. I’m very happy in Valencia; it’s my home, it’s given me everything, and I’m focused on finishing the season well. I don’t think a renewal is a pressing issue right now; I have two years ahead of me, and I hope to be here as long as possible because I love the city, the people, and everyone.”
